France October 2005

Home

Here are some photos from a trip to France in October 2005.

We stayed in a Gite in Villard-de-Lans, a small town in the Vercors, near Grenoble. There's a wide choice of Bars and Restaurants in the town and a market on Sundays and Wednesdays. The town is a centre for skiing in Winter and hiking and hot air ballooning in other seasons.

The weather was superb - cool in the evenings but warm and sunny all day.

I flew out on the budget airline EasyJet from Belfast International Airport to Grenoble Airport (GNB) via Luton. GNB is currently very quiet with parking just outside the terminal. In addition to the Luton flights, EasyJet will be starting flights from Bristol in December, Ryanair fly there from Stansted and both EasyJet and British Airways offer flights from Gatwick in the skiing season.

Most of the photographs were taken on a walk south east from Villard, initially on the GR91 then turning south from Clos du Four below Rochers du Ranc des Agnelons and returning down the Combe Charbonniere.

Credits: Many thanks to my friends Bill and Jan for organising everything and to them and all the other guests for making it a fun weekend!
